SENAI AIRPORT AERO CAMP 2019 EXCITES ASPIRING AVIATORS23 Sep 2019

SENAI, 23 September 2019 - 110 students from 16 schools around Johor were enthused to participate in the first ever aviation related education program - Senai Airport Aero Camp 2019 at Senai International Airport.

Officially launched by Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (ADUN) Senai, YB Tuan Tee Boon Tsong, the one-day program was organized by Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (Senai International Airport) and Kelab Remaja Udara Malaysia (KRUM) in collaboration with Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Johor, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia’s Asia Aeronautical Training Academy (AATA) and Elite Flying Club.

The camp was developed to instill awareness on the career opportunity available above and below-the-wing in the aerospace industry, calling the young generation to pursue their career dreams. The program was also designed to expose students on the diversity of professions in aviation such as airport operations, ground handling services, aviation safety and security, maintenance and engineering, business development and many more.

During the camp, the students whom age ranging from 12 to 17 years old were having an interactive career sharing session with Senai International Airport and AATA before they were taken for an educational airport tour to learn about its function and operations. The students were also given the opportunity to experience first-hand flying using the flight simulator in the AATA facility and had a closed-up interaction with real pilots and aircrafts.

“The aviation business is constantly growing with more demand for air travel forecasted in the future meaning that there shall be more jobs opportunity to be filled by the locals. With this, we want to instill the interest and prepare our young generation with the knowledge so that they can start paving out their career path from an early age.” said En

En Mohd Azam bin Shuib, the principal of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bukit Batu, Sedenak commented “Generally when we speak about career in aviation, the first thing that comes into the students’ mind is either to become a pilot or cabin crew. This program has changed that common perception with extensive explanation given on the broad range of opportunities available not only by airlines but also at the airport for different education background level which is really an eye-opener for our students.”
