Johor Tourism Board Receives Asia Records Certification as State Tops Asia with Over 24.69 Million Visitors Last Year

JOHOR BAHRU, April 17 — Johor’s tourism sector has marked a new milestone! Leveraging its massive land border traffic, the Johor Tourism Board has officially received certification from "The Asia Records" for the “Highest Inbound Visitors via Land Borders of Two Bilateral Special Economic Zones Globally in 2025.”

According to official records, Johor recorded a staggering 24,698,199 inbound visitors in 2025. Of this total, 19,387,115 visitors were from neighboring Singapore, highlighting the intense economic and personal exchange between Johor and Singapore.

During the "Visit Johor Year 2026 Convention" held yesterday, the Chief Certification Officer of Asia Records, Ku Jun Ming, presented the honorary award to the Director of the Johor Tourism Board, Sharil Nizam Abdul Rahim. The ceremony was witnessed by the Guest of Honor, Johor Bahru District Officer Mohd Masni bin Wakiman, and the Johor Director of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC), Noor Azlynn Zainal Abidin.

Mohd Masni noted that the state government has designated 2026 as "Visit Johor Year," setting a target to attract 12 million foreign tourists. This tourism growth is projected to generate over RM42 billion in economic impact for the state.

"These are not just estimated figures; they represent more job opportunities, livelihood security for local vendors and SMEs, and high international recognition of Johor’s unique identity," he said.

He added that since the beginning of this year, entry and exit points through Senai International Airport and various ferry terminals have been exceptionally busy, indicating that Johor has successfully made a stunning "first impression" on travelers.

Mohd Masni emphasized that the state government is currently committed to establishing "friendly, traditional, and world-class" service standards. With the launch of several new tourism products, the state aims to provide a more diverse and enriched sightseeing experience for both domestic and international tourists.

He urged residents to cooperate in maintaining Johor’s good reputation and to welcome every visitor with warmth and smiles, ensuring that "Johor’s friendliness and civility" are seen by the world.
