AIRPORT UPGRADES TRAVELLING
JOHOR BAHRU (May 15): In anticipation of more domestic flights resuming in the coming weeks, Senai International Airport has upgraded its travelling procedures to include new measures to ensure the health and safety of passengers.

Additional measures now include all passengers and airport users having to wear face masks and undergo body temperature checks at the airport entrance; only those with a temperature below 37.5°C are allowed entry.

“To ensure the procedure implementation, the entry and exit to the terminal building is limited to the main entrance only and is controlled by the Aviation Security personnel,” the airport said in a statement today.

The airport has also placed one-metre separation markings at common areas such as check-in counters, seating areas, boarding gates, elevators and baggage pick-up areas to encourage social distancing.

It will also provide hand sanitisers, soap and water around the terminal area and washrooms.

“We have been working closely together with Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Johor, since the Pre-Movement Control Order by stepping up preventive measures and controls to minimize the risk of infection of Covid-19 at the airport,” said Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Md Derick Basir.

According to him, the airport undergoes continuous disinfection and sanitisation, with a full-scale disinfection carried out most recently by the Johor State Fire and Rescue Department.

“We have also engaged with our retailers and tenants to ensure that they are following the SOP guidelines introduced by the government. With all these procedures and measures in place, we hope that the public will have more confidence to travel as the market slowly opens,” Md Derick said.

With the additional travel procedures, the airport now advises passengers to arrive 90 minutes before departure time to avoid long queues.

Passengers are also encouraged to check-in online to save time and ensure smooth journeys.
