Operation Started
The year Senai International Airport (previously known as Sultan Ismail International Airport) was officially opened for commercial operation to serve the southern region of Malaysia. The Airport was previously managed by The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) and later by Malaysia Airport Holding Berhad (MAHB) in the year 1992.
2003
Privatisation to SATSSB
Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (SATSSB) took over the management and operations of Senai International Airport
2004
Completion of cargo terminal
Senai Cargo Terminal was constructed with a built-up area of 3,600 sq m and has a capacity to handle up to 80,000 tonnes cargo per annum.
2006
Runway extension
The runway was extended from 3,354 metres to 3,800 metres.
2009
Acquisition by MMC
SATSSB was acquired 100% by MMC Corp Berhad and became part of MMC.

Passenger growth
Since the inception of Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd, passenger throughput has been steadily climbing from 0.8 million in 2003 to 4.27 million in 2019 where the airport sustained a double digit Y-o-Y passenger growth of at least 10% per annum.

With such a long runway, Senai International Airport is able to accommodate the landing of the largest passenger aircraft in the world the Airbus A380 as well as the giant cargo carrier Antonov 124.
2010
Completion of Aeromall
The Aeromall was the first stand-alone external airport mall in Malaysia. The development of the Aeromall on a 20ha site, annexed to Senai Airport offers 83,375ft² of retail space to passengers and public for them to have better shopping experience with more choices to shop and dine.

Senai International Airport Cargo Terminal is capable to handle a maximum capacity of 80,000 tonnes of cargo per year. Currently, 90% of the cargo is live seafood and perishable items connecting Sabah and Sarawak to Johor.
2015
SBAT started operations
SATSSB’s commenced its pivate jet terminal, Senai Business Aviation Terminal (SBAT) in March 2015. Since then SBAT has handled various types of private jets such as Cessna, Gulfstream, Jetstar, Fokker and many more. SBAT comes with 3 conference rooms, 2 lounges and an event hall to cater for, meetings, seminars, events and trainings.
