AIRASIA’S southern hub in Johor Baru will be directly connected to Kolkata (Calcutta), India fromNov 28 this year. The low-cost airline will fly the Johor Baru-Kolkata route direct, five times a week.

CONNECTING TWO SENSATIONAL CITIES
This new route will further expand connectivity for the airline’s southern hub. It will also mark the 15th route from Johor Baru and constitute the hub’s sixth international destination.

Thrilled at being the only airline in the country to offer this direct flight linking southern peninsula to the capital of West Bengal directly, AirAsia Berhad’s head of commercial Spencer Lee commented that he hopes this new connectivity will benefit both cities, in addition to strengthening ties between both countries. “Senai International Airport has been a great partner to AirAsia. “We are pleased to introduce more international routes from Johor Baru as part of our commitment to provide better connectivity to our guests and further grow the southern hub,” Lee added.

Earlier in the year, AirAsia rolled out two new domestic routes connecting Johor Baru to Kuala Terengganu and Johor Baru to Langkawi. “We believe Johor Baru has much to offer in business, leisure, education, sports and medical tourism,” Lee opined.
